Politecnico di Milano is a scientific-technological university which trains engineers, architects and industrial designers.

The University has always focused on the quality and innovation of its teaching and research, developing a fruitful relationship with business and productive world by means of experimental research and technological transfer.

The Interaction & Experience Design Research Lab is interested in research-through-design project and experience evaluation.

Margherita Pillan, Phd, is associate professor at the Department of Design of Politecnico di Milano and executive vice dean of the School of Design at Politecnico.

She teaches courses of Communication and Interaction Design, and leads project laboratories and workshops. Her expertise covers communication design, interaction design, service design, user centred design, design for social innovation, game design, wearable technologies, smart spaces, evaluation of experience for products and services.

She cooperates with Telecom Italia and with the JOL-Joint Open Lab at Politecnico, and is tutor of PhD students at the Design PhD School. Her present research focuses smart spaces, internet of things and interactive systems based on innovative forms of interaction and experience. She is an expert of e-learning and ethnography for design.

Milica Pavlovic is a PhD candidate at the Interaction and Experience Design Research Lab, Design Department of Polytechnic University of Milan, where she is a teaching assistant.

Milica holds a MSc double-degree in Interior Design, from Polytechnic University of Milan, and Systemic Design, from Polytechnic University of Turin. During her Master studies, she took part in the Alta Scuola Politecnica program for exceptional technology talents that stimulate innovation through multidisciplinary team projects. Furthermore, Milica obtained working experiences in product and architecture design studios, such as Artemide S.p.A. and Andrea Branzi, as well as the bio-tech field with ValueBiotech S.R.L.

She is developing her doctorate research in collaboration with JOL-Smart Social Spaces Lab of Telecom Italia. Her research aims for defining design methods and tools for supporting processes of design for User Experience within systems of Ambient Intelligence. Currently, Milica is based at the MIT Design Lab as a visiting researcher.
